I thought I was done with this topic, but apparently not. What God says to write about, I write about. Maybe this is more about someone who may read this and needs a little encouragement (aka “a kick in the pants), I don’t know, but having been there, I needed the kick myself.
In my mind I keep seeing the title of my dream poster “Be Part of the Solution.” When I saw those words flipping through the magazine pages (with a grudge at the time, mind you) it wasn’t just a ‘ringing true’ thing, it was LOUD JUMPING OFF THE PAGE ~ CLANGING SYMBLE type thing. God said to me, “If you continue to sit and do nothing, nothing will ever change – unless you start, nothing will ever happen!”
Ecclesiastes 11:4
(NIV) Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
(MSG) Don’t sit there watching the wind. Do your own work. Don’t stare at the clouds. Get on with your life.
Ouch. For me, at the time, I needed this.
ACTION!
That thought came back to me today while in church. A visiting pastor used a scripture from Deuteronomy 1 in his message…it’s a portion of scripture when Moses was retelling what God had done for the people of Israel, and in it God was saying to them that it was time to move into the promised land.
In verse 6 he read:
(AMP) The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, You have dwelt long enough on this mountain.
(MSG) You’ve stayed long enough at this mountain. On your way now. Get moving.
This is what it means to be “part of your own solution.” Taking action! Any place where you’ve dwelt longer than you needed to, that is the mountain that you must come down from. It’s a place of inactivity. It could be you’re feeling stuck and can’t move forward (believe me I gotcha there), or it’s just plain old procrastination (touché again…been there). If you know to take action but haven’t, this is the word for you today.
IT’S TIME TO GET MOVING, YOU’VE BEEN HERE LONG ENOUGH!
For me at that time, I first had to decide to participate with God and be “part of my solution.” That involved moving forward; climbing down the mountain ever so slowly with a “gritting my teeth – no matter what” attitude, walking to my “promised land.” The solution was moving from being in a lifestyle of excessive eating into the lifestyle He intended for me all along, one of freedom.
Another thing the pastor said this morning… “Good intentions will get you nowhere. You can ‘intend’ to do something forever, spend years intending even, but until it’s met with action, it’s dead.” How true is that? You all know the scripture behind that…
James 2:17
(AMP) So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).
Step Out
This is what I heard today – what God was saying “Step out! No longer can you stay where you are, you have to push forward – continue on…”
That is for someone and whoever you are…be encouraged! God is talking, drawing action from you. He would never ask for action without being RIGHT THERE beside you all the way. Of this, I know!
As I write this – it’s with a bit of fear and trembling because I’ve been there, been at that inactivity place for more years than I want to even count. I KNOW what it feels like. Also, don’t think that just because I’ve been traveling down the mountain a while now that I no longer need to put action to my faith, NOT. This is still an EVERY DAY, MINUTE BY MINUTE WALK! Please understand that I don’t have the “I have arrived” attitude. Nope. It’s the “by the GRACE of God I’m still alive and kicking and hanging on to God with all I am” attitude. The “I WON’T GIVE UP” looking into the face of God declaration attitude!
Ready?
God has such awesome plans for you. It amazes me still even now the plans He had for me that I only had a glimmer of, a dream of – and in all honesty, the dream was mostly “hoping but really never thinking it would happen” type of dream… AND plans that He had for me that I knew nothing about!
These plans God has for you, the ones you know not of, are beautifully and wonderfully made especially just for you. If the Word says it – you can believe it!
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Are you ready to begin? Check your gear, tie your shoes, grab your Word!
