Long time no ‘see.’

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything, for many reasons. This one is something I’ve been pondering on in the past weeks. It began with a quote I heard recently that hit me at the core…

“Whatever you ‘look’ at, focus on, becomes greater. Whatever you stare at grows in influence. Depending on what it is can either strengthen your faith or weaken it.” ~Bill Johnson

Now that wasn’t exactly word for word, but it’s the gist. What are you ‘looking’ at?

I’ve been looking down instead of up, way to much. No wonder it got so heavy… My focus has been on the problem vs. the problem solver.  The words from a wonderful song ring true…  Pause… I’m *smiling* because if you know me…of course a song would come to mind…when life is hard:

God I look to You

I won’t be overwhelmed

Give me vision to see things like You do

God I look to You

You’re where my help comes from

Give me wisdom, You know just what to do

He does too, know just what to do. The hardest part is changing what I’m ‘looking at’ back to Him. I envision Him grabbing my face like I would my boys when they were little, bringing me face to face, eye to eye with Him so I will look to Him only. He fills my focus and my feelings melt away. I won’t be overwhelmed.

Yes, if you’re asking…the past several weeks have been more than challenging and on multiple levels. Dealing with our oldest son who has a disability that makes his life so difficult and his choices as a result bring my husband and I to our knees, a lot; dealing with a situation at work that will make my workload even heavier. Life is challenging at times and although I like to think of myself as a problem solver, a peacemaker, someone who tries to make all things okay, some things can’t be fixed that way…in my own strength.  BUT, I can ‘look’ to my source, pray and trust and walk it out.

Today I read…and was comforted:

Isaiah 40:29-31 AMP

He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Keys…expect, look for, and hope! All action on my part…and if those words all point to my God, then I’m in GOOD HANDS. I do stand in His strength and power, and will be changed.

As I LOOK to God Alone for my strength, HE grows in my sight, and my faith in HIM grows. I don’t have faith in what I can ‘see’ from life. Those things are constantly in flux. He isn’t in flux.  HE NEVER CHANGES.

Thank GOD for that!

“On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand….”

There’s more, but it’s enough for now. I do pray whoever reads this is encouraged to continue on the journey. Just around the bend is a new day, a new season, life moves and changes, but He stands firm. Rock solid.
